Seven (7) openings are available for commissioners to serve on the McDowell Mountain Preservation Commission. Applicants must be Fountain Hills’ residents, for a minimum of one year, and be able to attend monthly meetings on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. Four Commissioners will be appointed by the Town Council and will serve on a volunteer basis for a term beginning January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2020. Three Commissioners will be appointed by the Town Council and will serve on a volunteer basis for a term beginning January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2021.
The role of the Commission is to advise the Mayor, Town Council, and the Director of Community Services in matters pertaining to the Community Services Department. Commissioners spend an average of 5 to 12 hours per month attending Commission meetings, reading packet materials, working on subcommittees, and volunteering on various department projects. Essential skills/knowledge in one or more of the following fields preferred: land planning and design, trail construction, engineering, conservation, environmental studies, and event planning.

The completed application packet should consist of (1) cover letter of interest; (2) a résumé; (3) completed Background & Personal Data Outline (attached); (4) completed supplemental questionnaire (attached), and (5) signed Consent to Executive Session (attached).
Applications are being accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Applications may be sent or hand delivered to the Town Hall reception desk, Attention: Angela Padgett-Espiritu 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. The envelope should be clearly marked “Community Services Advisory Commission Application”.
